Boo hoo. SO now you can't use skynet and kill anything that moves from the safety of your POS shields. This Skynetting was a plague to this game and finally CCP removed it. And since skynetting was removed, fighers didn't really need to warp off grid now did they? The only people who complain about this issue are the ones who abused the hell out of it for easy killmails. The LARGE majority of EVE HATED it which is why CCP finally stepped up and removed it.
Im not saying that game is perfect and some things should not be changed, but I am against removing valueable features from expensive and taking long time to skill ships w/o giving ANYTHING in return... Fix the feature, change it, adjust it but not just remove it! |

You are looking at an old version of the patch notes, we have also removed the Assist and Defend options. Capital ships will be re-balanced later this year, we will make them awesome again!
So we should refer from using them as there are usless ATM :/ or some of them is... with major functin simply removed. I would not say it is a thoughtfull decision. |

Since you've had whole game client on your machine already there was no need for that. That is why you had first step of patch, where luncher moved relevant game files to the cache area to be used in future rather than being downloaded on demand.
I just check the luncher - I can not find option to up out from DownloadOnDemand as I would rather have all relevant data at once not being fetched while I play as my network speed could have been way better |

So CCP, doesn't this seem a little backward to you? We know it's gonna make things suck, but since it will get fixed in the future we're just gonna let it suck.... I mean really it would be like saying "We don't like the bonuses X ship gives, so we're just going to remove all bonuses and let the ship suck until we rebalance the ship sometime in the future, and it will be a good ship again." Seems like a pretty bad idea to do business that way. And I'm not even in nullsec to use my carrier for a while, still think a different solution should be worked out. Other than that, the patch sounds great. About to get on and check it out. Consider the alternative... "we know ship x is totally overpowered and breaking the game, but we're just going to leave it, and let it keep crushing stuff until we get around to fixing it" given those two options ill take the first... even if I have multiple cap ships...
Overpowered, maybe - but that reality... supercarrier with Air group support can and should be able to generate lots of damage and destruction upon enemy fleet. But it costs a lot as well.... something for something.
You don't invest and build that big asset to be useless one the field.
I have used delegate fightes to provide support in my WH to the rest of the corp... never used it on a frigate or noob ship just to generate damage on enemy or in PVP. Current changes rendered this tactics useless... But the most bugging issue is reply from one of devs - that they 'will balance caps later this year'. Dont destroy game with half measures! |

A super carrier @ 100 km aligned to warp out with all of its fighters assisting other interceptors in the area? Sure the supercap is on grid, but it's basically just as safe as in a POS. I guess the only difference is one can be cloaky camped :P
And what would you expect 20+ Billion asset right in the middle of the battlefield... have you seen any Fleet / Navy doing that, especially in real life?
Cariier and Supercarrier can be fitted as tank in the middle of the field but what's the point - thats the fuction of the Dreadnought |

Either of those activities both in Null and WH-Space can be interrupted by gang of uninvited guests... and with current fighters condition, and sensor strenght it will take a LONG time to help your fleet in fighting due to target locking delay.... If you could assist - then you would not be delayed...

If you are a carrier or supercarrier and you want to shoot something, you get on grid with it, drop fighters, and shoot it. They are still going to be at increased risk. Just be happy there is no insta-locking interceptor controlling them and carriers take a while to lock stuff, christ

Assist means that your fighters would attack the taget of the ship you are assisting... So lets say your friend in BS has targeted someone - you could now send your fighters to assist that BS in attack on that target... and yes as it works with drones - you can send all of the fighters to assist, but you and only you will have full controll over them - so that BS would not be able to turn them back to orbit or send anywhere else.... as they would be fully controlled by carrier.
And yes - it means that it could be 15 fighters shootiang at the target of fleet member. |
